County cup against Widden Old Boys

A scrappy win

Today, we traveled north to Gloucester to Widden Old Boys in the latest game in the County Cup. It was a scrappy, feisty game, where both teams put in maximum effort.

In the first half, we went 3 up, quite quickly with some good team play. Trys from Tom W, Dan Navas and Cam. We did spend the last 5 minutes of the half on our own try line, the boys all battling well, putting in lots of tackles to stop them breaking through.

In the second half we conceded a try straight away, but for the rest of the game, we played a lot better. The team started getting to the rucks a bit quicker and tackling a lot better. Charlie Shipp scored a try in round off the win.

Player of the match was Dan Navas who played very well out of position at scrum half, and has also been playing very well over the past few games.

Well done to the boys, as we have topped our group at this stage of the County Cup competition, which means going forward, we will playing some tougher teams.
