Land Rover Cup
A hard days work
Today was the Land Rover Cup festival in Cheltenham.
It was a tough day, with the horrendous tackle on Harry we all witnessed when he was speared to the ground: thankfully Harry was just winded and managed to play on.
In the first round, we struggled to play our normal game, losing against teams we have previously managed to beat. We missed too many tackles and our passing was not accurate.
Widden - lost 1-0
Painswick - lost 2-0
Tewkesbury - lost 1-0
Unfortunately, we finished bottom of our pool group, but started playing better in the second pool of games. We managed to play more as a team, making more tackles and were eventually noticing that we were managing to cause problems for the opposition teams.
Drybrook -Lost 2 - 1, try scored by Tom W
Chipping Norton - won 2-1 both scored by Tom W
Gordon League - drew 1-1 Dan Navas scored.
Man of the tournament - Tom W, worked hard all day, putting in lots of tackles, and scored 3 tries.
Big mention to Wilco who after spending a couple of matches out with a bad shoulder, in true 1970's style, flung his arm sling off and trooped back on without a gum shield to shore up the scrum.
A difficult day today, but days like this can only make us stronger.
